A Cottage on Shelter Island

This place really got my attention because it feels so authentic and at the same time edgy. This Shelter Island cottage, built in 1904, was totally renovated and decorated by SchappacherWhite, a fantastic company specializing in historic preservation and detailed interiors and furnishings. The result is a very creative and harmonious way to enjoy the old charm of this place with today’s amenities.

Living Room

Comfortable, perfect for a cottage.

Old & New

I love all the “black & white” and “old & new”. This is a very interesting place.

Foyer

This chair is very charming.

Kitchen

Super simple and super fun! Living life the way we should.

Nook

I always enjoy seeing benches with chairs.

On My Own

Every house should have a spot where you can go and just relax, read a book or take a little nap. Yes… you deserve that spot!

Great idea of using vintage bottles to add a splash of color.

Bedroom

Vintage beds bring any bedroom to the next level. Really pretty.

Bathroom

What makes this little bathroom so special? The old charm was kept and the timeless lines will keep it stunning for years to come.

Pool House

How relaxing would it be to spend a couple of day in this bedroom by the pool with all of the nature surrounding you?

Hearing the Birds

This pool is great for this cottage because it’s simple.

Cottages have the power to make us feel happier the moment you enter, maybe because you know that’s your only “obligation” there is to have fun… nothing else.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this place. It sure made me feel inspired.

Have a Fantastic Day!

What a charming home and all the black aknd white is right up my alley. I might have to infuse a bit of color to make it more sunny, but it is done beautifully,Kathysue

  2. Let me tell you, Luciane, this is one of my favorite properties you have showcased. The exterior, perfect, very charming. And the interior, designed with various black and white elements enforces a very elegant motif. Very simple, and I like that.

Living on Shelter Island would be cool on it’s own, but then to call this beautiful space home would be a dream come true! I’m loving all the black and white too. Of course I’d probably add some pops of turquoise here and there to make it more ‘me’! :)

  6. Hello, Erin!

You sure would add some turquoise! You’re the “turquoise queen” overall. :-)

    Nice to see you here!

That is really bold to paint one whole wall in chalkboard paint but I like the blacks and whites in most of the rooms. Lovely home.
