The reason most families have photos taken is because they want to share them with people. While keeping them tucked away in photo albums and scrapbooks allows you organization and a hiding place for those embarrassing moments that have been caught on camera, the only way to share them is by digging them out.

Instead of tucking away the best of your family photos, why not find great ways to share them with the people that come into your home–framing them or finding some other way to display them around your home.

As Simple As a Frame

Displaying Your Family Photos. Tips and Tricks to Design a Photo Gallery. Melanie Turner Interiors.

You can easily pick up a frame at any dollar store or big box store to display your photos in. They make some really cute multi-photo frames that work excellent for graduation photo collages or even wedding photo collages. If you have some trinkets that go along with a photo you can create a shadow box display with the photo and items that will surely inspire comments by those that see it. Also, why not get creative and paint them on your favorite shade?

If you want something a bit more professional, there are framing stores and art stores that offer framing where you can get your photo professionally framed with matting and such. This will be a little more costly than the do-it-yourself versions, but well worth the price for the gorgeous product you’ll have to hang on the wall.

More Than Just a Photo

If there is a new baby in your home and you’ve invested in some beautiful newborn photography, you may want to have your favorite images turned into canvases. Having your photo transferred to canvas truly turns it into a work of art.

You may also still be able to find people out there who paint portraits, which makes a great wall display. This will probably cost much more than having your photo transferred to canvas, but it would be a special piece that can be handed down through the family for generations.

The pictures we see above used custom frames (floating frames), and the painted chain and small hooks came from a hardware store.

Your walls and scrapbooks aren’t the only places where you can display family and baby photos. Get photo cubes and fill them with great pictures. These cubes can usually hold four or more photos and are really fun to look at. Not into that? Try to create a photo gallery in your main hallway. Add some shelves, a pair of sconces and your best shots!

You can also find fun frames that are made to stand on shelves and fill those with memories also. These can be placed on mantles, shelves or even the coffee tables.

Get creative when you look for ways to display your family photos. Don’t just be traditional about it. You could even get photos made into puzzles that the whole family can put together with each other. You can get photos on playing cards that not only make for a fun game night, but they also make great gifts. Instead of tossing photo cards you get in the mail for Christmas and graduations, turn them into collages and display them on the wall to show your extended family members that they matter too!

I love taking pictures of my family and sometimes I wish I did it more often. I think it’s important for us to register life and its stages… I hope to see these pictures when I am really old and be able to remember all of the great memories we’re building today.

Have a wonderful day, my friends and we’ll talk again tomorrow.
