Cool or Fool? Living With Hot Pink

I’ll start this asking a simple question: Hot pink + animal prints= headache? Pink interiors are something that you love or you simply hate. Hot pink is the “look-at-me” of colors and you definitely send a “loud message” with it. Want to make a statement or get lots of attention? Wear a hot pink outfit, want to feel “electrified”? Have this room in your house.

This room, if analyzed, has great architecture. I love the beams and the loft feel. I imagine it to be a girl’s bedroom. The downstairs is where the girl would spend hours and hours sitting on the purple/pink chair talking on the phone. Oh, what? No! They don’t do that anymore these days, right? That’s so our time. They text and text and text. Right!

What about the zebra patches? Wild. huh? Now, what about that synthetic pink ottoman? Have I heard anyone say “trashy”? Wow, guys! The hardware on the steps (stairs) is very different and I keep looking at it and I’m not sure if I like it or not. It’s very unique and maybe it suits a kid’s room.

But really, what you guys think of this room? Is it Cool or Fool?

This just came to my mind… Doesn’t it reminds you of Christina Aguilera’s home?

Did you have a good week?  Did you learn anything good? Most importantly, did you do something good? It’s interesting but whenever I ask this I never think about myself. I always ask what I have done that was good for others. Have I helped someone? Have I smiled at someone I noticed needing a smile? Have I given an advice to a friend in need? Have I listened when someone tried to open their hearts? Have I calmed my kid when he was scared during the night? Have I held my husband’s hand and showed I love him? Have I looked at my baby’s eyes when he was searching for comfort? We’re always, always asking ourselves what have we done to others. Have you noticed that? If someone asks you if you have done something good, you automatically search for a moment where you helped someone, but we rarely think about ourselves. We never say ” I took a break when I felt tired”, “I calmed myself down when I felt stressed”, “I looked at the mirror and smiled”, “I said to myself of how proud I am for being who I am today”, “I forgave myself”.

We rarely remember that we also need to feel loved by us. We often forget that the more we love ourselves, the more we’ll have to share with others.

Take a minute to do something good_  for yourself!

Wishing you all a very blessed weekend! And also, know that I feel grateful for having you here!

  1. Since I can’t stand pink anything pink gets two thumbs down. I’m definitely not a fan of pink and animal print it’s way to much and I love animal print.

    Happy Friday!

It totally reminded me of Christina Aguilera’s home too!! Personally I’m not a fan, but I bet a tween would love it! That loft space is super cool!!

    Have a great weekend, Luciane!

  3. LOVE your message ugh…more than I love the room, lol! Yes agree it COULD be a pretty room but its too out there and wild for my taste, but to each his own, right? I so agree about the need to take care of ourselves and to slow down and be good to ourselves so we can be there for others. Cheers to that!! Have a great weekend!

Yeah I agree with the others-not my taste, but im sure any tween/teenage girl would jump at the chance to have a room like that- but I do love the built in bed and storage unit.

Dear Luciane, hope you are doing great! Hot pink can be very stylish, but not too much of it though. And this room has not very much style! Have a wonderful weekend!!!

    hugs, Kristin

  6. I SO don’t love this hot pink and animal print, but I agree with Erin, a tween probably would! I’m also not a pink fan, they lost me at the pink, though I don’t mind animal prints in strategic doses. I’m with you on the architectural details – it’s a shame they’re overpowered, because there are some really great details that are just lost.

What a perfect reminder you have sent to us, Luciane. Thank you for that. I think I’m going to head out and buy some bright fresh tulips – I just had to toss mine out, and the house really needs them right now. It’s raining, gusting, and dark grey out there!

Have a really wonderful, restful, fulfilling weekend!

  7. This room needs help. I would keep it wild but make a few changes. It just doesn’t have the wow factor and could easily have it. It looks like a ‘before’ in a ‘before’ and ‘after’.

A little too much for me, but could be a great space…hope you are doing something for yourself this weekend…

It would drive me crazy. Hate it although I like the purple chair but not its skirt. I’d use a purple chair as an accent in a room. But this room is way past trendy or cool. Thumbs down! I’d even have hated it as a teen and I actually liked pink then.

For a tween it couldn’t be more perfect…did you see those awesome romans? I think who ever did this knows what they are doing cause for this type of look..it’s great….of course it wouldn’t be in my home but I would sure compliment whoever did it..have a great weekend Luciane!

I assumed the hardware was on the steps because each one had a drawer built into it. I’ve seen that somewhere.

  12. I’m going to be brave here and be a bit controversial. I would really like this room, if the strong accents were replaced with pale pink, gray, or turquoise. The really bold elements could be changed out relatively inexpensively. Changing out the rug tiles and ottoman would give this room a whole different feel, so if the tween/teen in your life likes this, it’s not like they are making a huge investment that can’t be changed.

While it’s definitely not my taste, this could be an OK room, but it went too far. I think the zebra carpet squares, big shiny hot pink ottoman, and the channel-back chair together is just too much. If one can imagine the removal of the zebra carpet alone, this room wouldn’t cause such a headache & would be cute for a young female.

I do like a touch of hot pink but think this is too mu h. I painted my daughter’s desk hot pink, but the walls are blue and the bed is white, and I love the balance.

I hope you are well Luciane. I’ve been out of my house getting the floors redone.,..can’t wait to get home today!

From looking at the entire room, I think this may be a loft apartment and possibly they had to craft a room for her and maximize the height of the ceilings. Well, that can be done without so much pink, but in their defense, nothing that is permanent is hot pink. I think the carpet are those FLOR tiles. The loft will be really cool when she’s a teenager, and the light pink drapery can work with more sophisticated tastes. I’m sure this is just a stage…..

Pink is my favorite color but there’s god pink and bad pink. This is beyond bad…. it’s hideous. Love the storage stairs though!
