Home Bunch - Interior Design Ideas

Located in East Grand Rapids, MI, this East Coast inspired shingle home was beautifully designed by Rob Sears of Sears Architects and built by Eastmark Construction

The owners wanted a home that embraced its natural surroundings and felt comfortable and functional at the same time. With help of Amy Darooge of Villa Decor, the interiors were created with a soothing color palette and taking the amazing lake views as inspiration.

Aesthetically, this home has it all; charming shingle exterior with East coast trim details and natural cedar shakes, easy access to the lake and interiors that remind you of a timeless Nantucket cottage.

Hard would be not falling in love with this home…

East Coast Inspired Shingle Home

This home is surrounded by nature. I love how private it feels.

 Dining Room & Living Room

The living room is defined with the coffered ceiling and custom crown molding. The dining room is charming and feminine.

 Color Scheme

The main rooms are open to each other, but they feel very defined.

I love the combination of soft blues, creamy white and the natural finishes.

 Kitchen Design

This stunning kitchen is the heart of the home…. It’s spacious and it has well-appointed cabinetry.

Paint Color

Paint Color is “Gray Horse by Benjamin Moore”.

Kitchen Countertop

Countertop is creamy white quartz.

Island Pendant Height

Island Pendant Height: Pendants should be placed 28 to 34 inches above the countertop, or 72 inches above the floor.

Cabinets

The cabinets for kitchen was manufactured by “Woodways Custom Cabinetry”.

Skylights

This kitchen features skylights, which brings plenty of natural light to the space.

Refrigerator

Appliances have the same cabinet finish to acquire a seamless look.

Let’s Cook!

Beach cottage-y feel is added to the kitchen with the tongue and groove ceiling.

Cooktop

The appliances for this kitchen are from “Bekins Appliances”.

Hardware

Beautiful combination of nickel and glass hardware.

Dream Kitchen

All the classic details with the beadboard, soft mineral blue and white color palette, and turned legs, make this kitchen timeless.

Eating Area

The rich white cabinets help the space feel bright while the island ties the color scheme found in the rest of the house.

Solo Per Due

The island features a small eating space that’s perfect when the owners, an empty-neater couple, are not entertaining.

Refrigerator Drawers

A pair of refrigerator drawers keep everything handy.

Kitchen Desk

A smart desk is the perfect spot to do some errands. Notice the practical storage.

Inspiration

 A desk with a view!

 Hardwood Flooring

Wood floors are from “Rivershores Hardwood Flooring”.

Study

The study is perfect to read a book or sit quietly and enjoy the lake view.

Powder Room

This powder room is incredibly charming. I am loving the distressed cabinet.

Countertop & Wallpaper

 Impressive details.

Nook

This home is full of “sweet” surprises!

 Laundry Room

Get ready to see one the most functional and gorgeous laundry room you’ve seen! This one is a winner.

 Appliances

Appliances are at a strategically height, so you don’t have to hurt your back every time you do laundry.

Storage Solutions

Roll-out laundry baskets keep the clean laundry organized.

Drying Rack

This drying rack, when closed, looks just like a normal drawer — see picture above.

 Cabinet & Sink

A delicate vintage chandelier is accommodated by the beadboard tray ceiling.

 Backsplash

 Stunning backsplash.

Countertop is quartz.

Hang Bar

I really like the idea of placing a hanging laundry bar above the sink. It’s great if you need to hang hand-washable clothing.

 Smart Laundry Room Ideas

This is the kind of laundry room that make us want to start a reno in our own laundry room! I simply love this space! Isn’t it perfect? There’s even a chalkboard door for the grandchildren!

Cabinets are by “Woodways Custom Cabinetry”.

 Blue Bedroom

The comfortable master bedroom is located on the main floor of the house and it has a great view of the lake.

 Niche & Built-ins

The TV niche creates an interesting architectural detail to the space, while the built-in keeps any memorabilia away from sight.

 Bathroom

This bathroom is not too big, but the space was wisely used.

I really like the basket wave floor tile.

 Bathroom Cabinets

 Beautiful all-inset cabinets.

 Bathtub Design

The neutral colors in this bathroom are very relaxing.

 Guest Bedroom

The guest bedroom was carefully decorated for the grandchildren. Notice the inviting window-seat and the spacious built-in.

Bedding is the “Fisherman’s Quilt & Sham” by Serena & Lily.

 Bathroom

Although this bathroom was created for the kids, it still has the same elegance found in the rest of the house.

 Laundry

The guest bathroom features two pedestal sinks and a built-in hamper.

Family Living

A comfortable family room is found in the lower level of the house. The space has an amazing view of the lake and the trees.

 Sunroom

This is the best place in the house to appreciate the scenery.

Backyard

Naturally beautiful.

Boathouse

Nothing was overlooked in this place, not even the small boathouse.

  Life is Good

A place to count your blessings…

 Garden

The landscape was designed by “Rooks Landscaping”.

 Waterfront

This is an impressive location. Not only the lake is magnificent, but also the canopy trees.

 Lake

This is a home that will be hard to forget. Beauty was truly found in every picture, in every detail.

I hope you enjoyed seeing it! 🙂

How are you doing today? We had a good weekend… the kids went to a Halloween party, we watched Toronto win over the Penguins yesterday and if you knew my kids you would know this is a big deal for them. My son loves the Leafs while my daughter’s favorite team us Pittsburgh. It’s cute to see them talking and defending their team… and don’t underestimate these two… they really know hockey! 🙂

What did you do this weekend? Anything interesting happened? I hope everything was good and that we can say the same for this new week that’s just starting…

I am wishing you all a healthy, peaceful and blessed week. May you get what you’ve being wishing for!
