Designed by interior designer Karen Davis of Marker Girl Home for a mother of two, this Houston home is all about comfortable family living. The interiors are neutral with coastal inspired décor and soft textures. The entire home was designed to please the adults without forgetting about the children. The lucky little ones have a fully equipped playroom with a custom storage unit and plenty of space to play and create!
Take a look at this family home and you see how neutral interiors can easily make you feel more relaxed and at ease!
Family Home Interior Design Ideas
What I like the most about this home is that it feels tailored but it also feels livable. Notice the soft textures and gentle color palette.
The decor in this space feels feminine and coastal. I love the fabric choices for the pillows and couch and how about that turquoise lamp?! Isn’t it gorgeous?
The entire living room was decorated with a subtle coastal approach. Seafoam fabrics and accessories play well in this neutral living room.
Classic white cabinets and granite countertop make of this kitchen desk a practical spot for this busy mother of two to run some errands.
Gorgeous butler’s pantry and tile flooring.
The master bedroom has a more traditional approach but it still feels light thanks to the neutral walls and bedding.
The entire bathroom feels like a retreat, from the architectural details to its gentle paint color.
Flooring is Porcelain vein cut tiles from Daltile.
Traditional cabinets and hardware add a sophisticated feel to this bathroom.
I love the windows and the framed tub. Isn’t it inviting?

The kids would not have an excuse to make a mess in any other room of the house with a playroom like that! There’s plenty of space for playing and creative time in this space!
Cute decorative pieces make this entire room feel more kid-friendly.

For All Ages
The best part of this playroom is that it can easily be transformed into a den or family room as the kids grow. Flexible design always saves you money at the end of the day!
Doesn’t this home have an inviting feel? I hope you like it as much as I did! In fact, I feel quite inspired by the bathroom. I am designing a bathroom for an amazing client and I want hers to have the same spa feel this bathroom carries. That tub seem to be the perfect place to relax at the end of a long day, doesn’t it?
Talking about having a long day, guess what? I have a long day ahead of me as well. The kids have hockey practice and I have tons of work to do. Let me take a deep breath and start… but first, I will take another sip of my coffee and another look at this home. 😉
Have a Blessed day, my friends! May you feel happy and loved today.
