Caldwell & Johnson Custom Builders & Remodelers know how to build “green homes” with style. This lovely Rhode Island beach cottage has many eco-friendly features which include solar panels and plenty of windows to allow natural light in. One thing I love about this company is that, thanks to the interior designer Tina Caldwell, the interiors are always inspiring and full of great ideas and today she is sharing all of the details about this cheerful Rhode Island beach cottage. Let’s take a look!
A foyer with board and batten walls, painted in “Benjamin Moore OC-17 White Dove”, immediately makes you feel welcome and relaxed.
Foyer Lighting: The pendants lights are from the Troy Lighting Brooklyn collection.
Door hardware is by Emtek.
Flooring is Carbonized Strand Bamboo.
Kitchen
This coastal kitchen is really perfect! I love the blue-gray kitchen island, the off-white cabinets and the turquoise barstools. Stools are by Woodland Imports found on Joss and Main.
Get the Look
Wall paint color is “Gray Cashmere by Benjamin Moore” – it looks slightly different here due the amount of natural light this room was receiving when the picture was taken.
Cabinets are Starmark in Marshmallow Cream.
Island paint color was custom made for owner.
Lighting over island and sink is Troy Brooklyn Suite.
Cabinet Trim
Cabinet Trim: The cabinets have 5 inch crown and 7 inch trim board between the ceiling and the cabinets.
Countertop is quartz, manufactured by Cambria and the color is called PRAA SANDS.
Faucet is Grohe.
Backsplash is a Ann Sachs Ceramic Tile.
Patio Doors
The patio door is made by Anderson Windows and the hutch was purchased at junk shop and repainted by the designer. Isn’t she handy?! 🙂
Living Room
This coastal living room has an amazing ocean view! I love the casual, coastal decor. The slipcovered couches and the rope lamps are from Pottery Barn.
Rug is from Horchow.
Sunroom
The sunroom is where I would spend most of my time… can you picture yourself reading a good book or just enjoying that incredible view? Wall paint color is “Benjamin Moore Sail Cloth”.
The nesting tables are from Pier One.
Ceiling Paint Color
Ceiling paint color is “Sherwin Williams Sea Salt”. Trim paint color is “Benjamin Moore White Dove”.
The coffee table is pine wood with apple cider vinegar wash to distress — done by the designer!
Fan is MinkaAire.
Go Green
According to the designer, this is the BIG part of the house. The solar panels are super efficient and this was very important since the homeowner is very environmentally conscious. The entire house is electric and the solar produces more electricity than they need. Thanks to Net Metering the owner watches the meter run backwards in the summer! 🙂
Front Door
What an inspiring front entry! The door paint color is “Sherwin Williams Needlepoint Navy”. Door is Therma Tru and flip flop walkway was sourced by the owner. Isn’t it perfect for a beach cottage?
