Located on Tybee Island in Savannah, GA, this cottage has everything someone can wish for in a coastal cottage. It has a welcoming front porch and vibrant interiors mixed with soothing spaces. And talking about space, this is a cottage that uses every inch of it in a very smart way. Take for example the second story loft, where curtains were added to create separate sleeping areas for the kids and an extra area to play.

The main floor is open and it feels spacious, full of natural light. The kitchen in this coastal cottage is also great with its grey cabinets and honed white marble countertops.

Designed by Joel Snayd from Rethink Design Studio, this coastal cottage has that great summer feel that we often crave and wish we could find more often for our delight.

The interiors of this cottage are inspiring me to bring more color into my home during this summer! I hope it inspired you too!

 Coastal Cottage

This screened porch is a great place to enjoy a sunny, bug-free afternoon.

I love the 1960s vintage spun fiberglass outdoor furniture. The designer added new cushions using Sunbrella fabric.

The iron urns are most likely from the 1920s.

Living Room

The living is fun, colorful and comfortable.

Rug is from GDC Home and sofa is the “Silhouettes Sofa with Dressmaker Skirt” by Hickory Chair. The sofa pillows are Thomas Paul for Duralee with solid green back and welt cord.

The pair of rattan chairs were bought locally at a store called One Fish Two Fish. The coffee table was a vintage find and the blinds are Rio woven shades.

Dining Room

The open space connecting the dining room and kitchen, makes everything much easier when entertaining.

The light fixture above the dining room table is from Circa Lighting. The finish is antique brass. The designer painted the “hood and trim pieces” a soft pale blue to give it a more vintage cottage feel.

Chairs are by Crate & Barrel and the dining table is from Hickory Chair.

Decor

The floors are 6×12 Squall slate in a brick pattern.

Stools & Stairs

The kitchen cabinets were painted in Sterling 1591 by Benjamin Moore.

The countertop is Carrera marble with a honed finish and the kitchen stools are from Overstock.

Upstairs

The second story of this cottage acts as a sleeping nook and family room.

Paint Color: The floor color is Sterling 1591 by Benjamin Moore and the walls are SW Extra White 7006.

Curtains

According to the designer, behind the white flowing curtains are built-in beds each adorned with a nautical reading light and built-in hideaway niches.

The curtains are from Pottery Barn.

Behind the Curtains

This is playful and vibrant. The designer used nautical pillows (2 for each bed) and hung them with hooks from Etsy.

The night stand is vintage, from the early 60s. Rug is from West Elm. The navy sheets and pillow covers are from Amy Butler’s Constanta Navy bedding collection.

Kids Play Area

The play area feels light and airy with painted gray floors and all white wall. This is a wonderful place for the kids to hangout.

The swivel rattan chairs and table are vintage finds.

Paint Color: Extra White 7006 by Sherwin Williams.

Grey & Yellow

What a wonderful way to spruce up a bathroom. From basic to fabulous!

The side table is by West Elm. The fabric used for the shower curtain is by Dwell Studio.

Adding Color

Bathroom Dimensions: roughly 6′ x 12′.

Guest Bedroom

This is a very relaxing bedroom. Small yet comfortable.

 Night stand is by West Elm and the sconces are by Ralph Lauren.

Coastal Colors

The headboard was found at an antique store and then sprayed a soft grey.

Wall Paint Color: Sherwin Williams Tradewind 6218.

Between Quilts & Shells

This vintage armoire was professionally painted.

Master Bedroom

This bedroom is perfect for a cottage!

The bed is vintage and the white bed spread with green trim was purchased at a local Homegoods.

Paint Color: Sherwin Williams 6204 Sea Salt.

Bathroom

I love the classic elements found in this bathroom, such as the white marble and the claw tub.

The wall color is SW Window Pane 6210.

The mirror was found at a flea market, painted in a warm gray and then, glazed and lightly scratched with steel wool to add more patina.

 Outdoor Shower

A beach cottage with an outdoor shower? This is paradise!

Light above front door is by Barn Light

The exterior paint is Sherwin Williams Dewy 6469. The trims are Sherwin Williams Extra White 7006.

The door paint color is Sherwin Williams Gladiola 6875.

Hello everyone! Can you believe how fast this week is passing by?! Time seems to be going by so fast and summer will be here before we know it.

Talking about summer, I hope you can have a lazy afternoon to slowly go through each picture. Today’s Interior Design Ideas has so many great interiors to be inspired by, and I’m sure you’ll find something of your taste and style.

A classy home is the kind of home that embraces beauty, design and respects its own architecture.

Designed by Maison Market, this home is all about large, open spaces filled with natural light and eye-catching decor. The spacious kitchen immediately grabs your full attention. Not only are the colors beautifully chosen, but also the materials, such as white marble and honed granite.

The master bedroom is yet another room that feels classy, but not too stuffy. Comfort is added with white linens, chairs and an upholstered bed.

While the entire house feels classy and elegant, all the rooms are very approachable and livable for this growing family.

Classy Home

The foyer immediately makes you feel welcomed. The pendants are very unique and I like the fact they used two, instead of one. It creates more volume and balance.

Floors are 5″ Red Oak with a custom blend stain.

Dining Room

I like how cozy this dining room feels.

Dining table, if not the same, is very similar to this one from “Four Hands“.

Kitchen Design

I fell in love with this kitchen the moment I saw it! Notice the massive island. It’s basically three islands combined.

Lanterns are “Medium Round Edwardian Lantern” by Circa Lighting.

Cabinets

Beautiful colors were chosen for the cabinets. The hardware is chrome.

Eating Nook

Sunny and happy! The chairs are “Madeleine side chairs” by Restoration Hardware. Table is “Flatiron”, also by Restoration Hardware.

Family Room

The family room is full of natural light and color. Green works great against grey.

Built-ins

The built-ins keep everything organized and well-displayed.

Powder Room

Lovely powder room.

Sink: the base is from Restoration Hardware. The designer picked out the slab, sink, and faucet, which were assembled on site.

We are used to seeing beautiful homes around here, in interior magazines and while driving our cars. But what makes a house become a beautiful home? Many factors are important, such as having an attractive curb-appeal, coordinated color pallet, timeless architecture, and when it comes to the interiors, I think we can’t overlook the main room of any house: the kitchen. But in my opinion, in order for a house to be beautiful, it has to feel welcoming. You have to feel good in it. That’s only achieved with balance created by design, architecture and landscaping.

These beautiful homes are custom-built by Stonecroft Homes and most of them are not staged, therefore you’ll have to use your imagination and decorate them in your mind according to your taste (that should be fun!). I wanted to post these homes from this builder because when I visited their website I spent hours seeing and learning about the architecture and design found in these homes. Each and everyone of them are special in their own way and their exceptional craftsmanship is evident in each house.

 Hello everyone! It’s really nice to be back after a great weekend! Remember I mentioned I needed some quiet time for myself? Well… Why did I wish for that? It seems that whenever I seek silence, the more noise I hear… LOL But I’m not complaining! Actually, I feel very happy. We had a very busy weekend with the kids. We went to many places with them, including the beach.

Going to the beach with a toddler is not that easy, I must say. You know how toddlers like to put everything in their mouth, right? And, I don’t think anyone likes to eat sand… not that tasty.. nope! So, there you go! 

Regardless of that (not being able to close my eyes for a second), we all had a wonderful time. Being by the ocean is one of my favorites things, and like my grandmother said, the ocean takes all the “heavy stuff” away… and it actually did. I feel light, happy and blessed.

Property Development– if you’re new to the game you need to have a clear and concise plan of action to make sure that you don’t go bust in the process. For many of us, property renovation is a lucrative career which to the average homeowner – seems easy; but it’s not actually that simple.

In order to survive in the property development world, you need to follow this step-by-step plan, taking care to spend as little as possible (harder than you think).

Research, Research, Research

If you are serious about forging a career in property development you need to be prepared to immerse yourself in the property market. You need to know which locations are up and coming so that you can grab a bargain property before it’s in demand, and you need to know your prices to ensure that you don’t pay over the odds.

Once you know the type of location you want, the next step is to play the waiting game. You don’t want to choose a property which is in considerable disrepair, especially if it’s your first project. For your first project you want a nice property which is structurally sound from top to bottom, but is dated in terms of its interior design. You will find that even when you think it’s a quick makeover, problems will inevitable arise. Think about replacing the kitchen and bathroom, maybe the layout needs a bit of work? But remember, don’t bite off more than you can chew.

Make Friends With the Right People

If you currently work in the building trade, this won’t apply because you’ll probably already be friends with plumbers, electricians and plasterers. If not, you need to start making friends quickly because it’s vital that you seek their advice before committing to a purchase.

Get your builders, electricians and plumbers in to check the place out – their advice is free and because they are experienced they are likely to spot a problem a mile off. If they say it’s bad, don’t touch it with a barge pole, but if they don’t see any potential problems besides the aesthetics, the next step is to call in a surveyor to assess the condition of the building.

Budget Wisely & Plan Your Finances

Before you start any work, it’s always a good idea to get quotes for the cost of building work. Most tradesmen are more than happy to give a quote free of charge. The more quotes you get, the better you can plan your finances.

Try and work out what it will cost you to renovate the property, taking care to budget for a contingency of around 15% of the total cost of the work you plan on doing. Once you have done this, the next step is to write up an agreement with your builders, electricians, plumbers and anyone else who will be helping you on this project. In this JCT agreement you can outline the cost of the work to be undertaken, the agreed deadline for the work to be completed by, the working hours and the terms of payment. All very important factors.

Project Management

The main purpose of a project manager is to ensure that everything runs to plan and to the specification you require. This is a lot harder than it may sound, and requires someone who is confident, good at communicating with a strong understanding of the trade. In other words they know a good job from a bad one.

If you think you can do this yourself, then great but you need to be prepared to work all hours, live in a building site and sound any concerns which you may have without causing friction on site.

Hopefully these tips have helped you get a brief overview of what you should expect when it comes to planning your own property development project. If, on the other hand you are an experienced pro, why don’t you share your words of wisdom below.

 This was a very busy week and I hope to have enough time to relax during the weekend. I feel I need time for myself, some time to be quiet and hear my own thoughts. Life can get so loud at times and sometimes all we need to do is slow down a little and get in touch with ourselves and our goals.

I hope you can have some time to understand yourself better, to answer any questions you might have inside of your heart.

Life is too precious for us to not pay attention to it. Stop, listen and keep walking knowing where you want to arrive.

Is there anything better than waking up, seeing big tall trees and a lake right in front of you? This traditional lake house is located in Minneapolis and it was designed by TEA2 Architects and the interiors are by Billy Benson Co.

The house exudes charm and beautiful decor, but what really makes this traditional lake house  feel appealing is the comfort you can find in every room.

Nothing was overlooked, yet nothing became too precious. This house feels as the simple elements were added slowly, with a big enphases on timeless architectural design.

Traditional Shingle-Style Home

The architecture of this house is charming and timeless. The beautiful window box makes the curb-appeal of this lake house even more attractive. The plants in the second floor window box are lime green and purple Sweet Potato Vine and Canna Lily.

The roof and the gable end walls are both cedar shingles. Shingle color is a 50/50 mix of Cabot’s Bleaching Oil & Weathering Stain. The steps are bluestone.

Front Door

I’m enchanted by the architecture of this space. Notice the curved walls and windows. Truly impressive.

The front door was custom-made.

Living Room Design

You can’t help by fall in love with the family room. perfectly designed and with incredible views of the lake.

The sofas are from Hickory Chair Furniture. The sofa fabric is from Highland Court – Barley Stripe.

The rug was custom designed and made by Aubry Angelo. Widows are by Marvin Windows.

Living Room & Kitchen

The fireplace stone is Northern Buff Limestone.

Paint Color: The trim and walls are Benjamin Moore Glacier White.

Kitchen Design

This island is exquisite. I love its design and how sculpture it feels in this space. I also like the windows and the glass doors on the cabinets.

The countertop is Arcadia granite. Also, notice there are three faucets. That’s a first for me!

The floors are stained walnut with hand distressing.

Dining Room

The traditional dining room is full of natural light.

Light fixtures are from Hammerton.

Powder Room

Beautiful details can be found in this room. The vanity is 36″w and it is from Black Wolf Designs. The sink can be found here. Wallpaper is by Romo.

Family Room

What a great family room! I love the surprising red with the blue and white fabric.

The red settees are from Hickory Chair Furniture and the coffee table is made by Black Wolf Design.

Sconces are by Circa Lighting.

Bedroom

This bedroom feels comfortable and playful. The cover is custom made; the fabric is Manuel Canovas – Rosa Union.

Paint Color is Benjamin Moore Manchester Tan HC-81.

Sitting Area

This space feels peaceful and elegant. The ottoman is from Kisabeth Furniture and the carpet, a combination of wool and linen, is from Aubry Angelo; the style is called Aria.

Paint Color: The trim is Benjamin Moore Glacier White – AC-40 and the wall is Benjamin Moore Manchester Tan HC-81.

Bathroom

This bathroom is so well designed that almost don’t feel like a bathroom. I simply love it!

The wall color (Benjamin Moore Manchester Tan HC-81) makes the space feel large and calm.

Porch

This is the kind of porch that can make me fall in love with the house. I often prefer light colored outdoor furniture because it feels calmer and beautifully contrasts with the landscaping.

The columns are approx 11′ tall and have a circumference (at the base) of approx 4′-6″ and  the ceiling is Western Red Cedar with a clearcoat finish.

Back of the House

The landscaping was done by Matt Wilkens at Damon Farber.

Architecture

The stone base is actually natural bluestone.

Dimensions: This house is approximately 48 ft wide and it measures 4000+ SF (First Floor + Second Floor).

Lake

Beauty can be found everywhere you look in this home.
