It’s no secret I love Spain and adore its stunning landscaping, inspiring architecture, friendly people, and not to mention, the food. In fact, Spain is one the countries I plan on visiting as soon the kids are a little bigger. I want them to be big enough to understand and learn more about this beautiful place.

I fall even more in love with Spain when I see a charming home like this one and I know I should share this passion with you because there’s so much to learn from the way the Spanish people live. I always admire how open the houses in Spain usually are and they seem to always embrace the outdoors, inviting it to the indoors. Houses in Spain are also bright, sunny and full of color; colors that are usually brought out with pillows, throws and my favorite, fresh local flowers.

This is the kind of place that will remind you of the sunshine and of a happy day. I hope you can feel warm just by seeing this peaceful and welcoming house in Spain. Enjoy!

The open foyer makes the whole house feel welcoming. Dresser is from Artelore.

Living Room

I love how serene this room feels. Mirror and chaise are from Hanbel, ottoman is from Ikea and sofa is from  Mujika Aramendi.

Desk

I always decorate my house with pine cones at this time of the year. They’re very affordable (if not free!) and you can do so many different kind of arrangements with them.

That nice desk is from Artelore and the rug is from Naturtex.

Dining Room

What a lovely dining room! Wouldn’t you love to have dinner here? Cabinets and light fixture are from Hanbel.

Tea Cup

The console, placed behind the sofa, separates the dining room from the living room.

Bedroom

I’m loving the purple quilt against the sage bedding. Wallpaper is from BN Wallcoverings.

Bathroom

Modern and sleek! How great are these cow-hide baskets, right?! The architectural mirrors are from Artelore.

Chandelier

What a view! I love the contrast of the rustic beams with the delicate chandelier.

Patio

The chandelier is from Hanbel.

Planting

The homeowner has a small area between the patios where she plants some herbs.

Green

This is the kind of place that make you wish you could retire today! Coffee table and rug are from Hanbel.

This house is not only beautiful, but it also feels very peaceful, which is essential for me in a house, and that’s something money alone can’t offer. Peacefulness has to come from the place the house is located, combined with the people who lives there. Every house has its own flow, its own energy and I’m not saying this in a spiritual way, but I think we can influence the way our home feels with the way we “treat” it. The peace in our home has a big connection with how we choose to live in the space and also with what we choose to live with.

When interior designer Heather Chadduck was contacted to renovate this lakeside stone house she certainly had to have a very creative vision for the space. The new owners fell in love with the location of the house and wanted it to be the best place to bring their children, extended family and friend to enjoy the weekends on the lake.

This Eden Isle house was built in the 1960s by Dallas-based architect David George and had good bones, but the current owners chose this place especially for its location, but with Heather’s help, they can now appreciate beauty not only outside, but also, inside.

The decor feels approachable and it is based on simplicity and comfort.

Living Room

The rope and iron Luigi chandelier from Solaria Lighting is the “show-stopper” of the room. Sofas: Verellen, Swivel chairs: Lee Industries, Pillows: Lulu DK outdoor fabrics. Walls and ceiling: Agreeable Gray by Sherwin-Williams.

Glass

Shades of blue, green and gray are used in accessories in the living space and form the basis for the home’s color palette, reflecting the hues of the surrounding hillside.

Beads 

Beauty is added with the details.

Kitchen

Here, the homeowners decided to save some money and refinish the cabinets and add honed Carrara marble tile backsplash, SubZero appliances and new concrete countertops.

Eat

I really love this dining area. Notice the beautiful lanterns and the view of the steps made of stones. Just beautiful!

Master Bedroom

I really like this master bedroom. Bed is a custom and the rug is by Madeline Weinrib. Walls and ceilings are Sherwin-Williams’ Toque White.

Bathroom

This is something I wish I had at home. Can you imagine having a huge bathroom with a freestanding bath in the middle, just for yourself? Tub: Waterworks, Chandelier: Lowcountry Originals iron.

Vanity

Vanity areas feature Lowcountry Originals sconces and Newport Brass faucets through PC Hardware.

Guest House

The guesthouse is nestled into the hillside above the main residence.

One Room

A closet space was turned into a trio of bunk beds. A Solaria Lighting chandelier and Lee Industries swivel chairs create a cozy sitting area.

Bedroom

Any guests would love to stay here. Curtains and pillows: Perennials outdoor fabrics, Custom bed is upholstered in Sunbrella sailcloth, Rug: is a custom made from Sunbrella fabrics.

Kitchenette 

White subway tile and Carrara marble countertop are always a classic choice. The woodwork is painted Sherwin-Williams’ Toque White.

The fireplace is flanked with symmetric storage areas for firewood. Outdoor furniture: Kingsley Bate (teak), Rug: Dash & Albert,  Ceiling is painted Sherwin-Williams’ Topsail.

Views

This place feels so private, so calming, almost like a sanctuary, actually, a stylish sanctuary!

January is the month we come to our senses and realize we ate a bit too much during the holidays. And when I say “we” I’m actually thinking about myself! I admit I ate whatever I wanted and didn’t worry much, but that quickly add some extra pounds, especially when you have just delivered a baby. So, having that in mind I chose to make a post on Houzz about Home Gyms! I really don’t have any extra time to drive to a gym, so having one in my house would be ideal and my “20 picks” this month is really inspiring me to do just that.

I recommend you to drop by and take a look at it. I usually don’t like the cold look home gyms usually have, but I believe I found some stylish ones, also, I have some suggestions for you in case you want to have your own home gym. Now, I have also prepare another post for you. This gorgeous home is located in Washington, D.C and it was built by architect Donald Lococo and the interiors are by Darryl Carter. All rooms feel so bright and so well done. It’s the perfect combination of white walls, stylish furnishings and stunning dark floors.

Foyer

First impressions are important! Windows galore, vintage glass bell pendant, dark floors, a 19th-century leather-topped table and Persian Tabriz rug are a classic combination.

Living Room

This living room has an amazing flow. Notice the built-ins and the console used as a double desk.

Kitchen

The floors are walnut and the counters are green soapstone. Love the wall color? The built-ins and trims throughout the house are painted Bancroft White by Darryl Carter Colors by Benjamin Moore.

Breakfast Room

What not to love here? My favorite things? The antiqued brass fixtures are by Vaughan.

Master Bedroom

I love seeing serene master bedrooms. The walls are painted in Albermarle Blue by Darryl Carter Colors by Benjamin Moore and the duvet and shams are by Area.

Ensuite

Is there anything more beautiful than carrara marble? It covers everything here, including the walls, floor, and counters.

Don’t you love Tuesdays? I get excited about Tuesdays now that we have our Cottage of the Week featured here. I love the simplicity of the cottages I find. I read a comment the other day where this lovely reader said she enjoyed seeing and dreaming with the big houses I post here, but she gets even more inspired with the cottages because they have realistic size and decor. I couldn’t agree more! I totally understand that. I love seeing houses that make us dream, the kitchens that make us want to demolish the ones we have and start all over again, but nothing speaks more to my heart than cozy places where everything feels so uncomplicated.

This one’s location? Sweden. It’s amazing how many gorgeous cottages you can find in that country! Enjoy this Cottage of the Week!

Often I see houses that I wish were mine! I can almost see myself living in these places, cooking my favorite meal in the kitchen and relaxing in the dreamy master bedroom. The first time I saw this house at my very good friend Michele’s blog, “Hello Lovely Inc“, I fell in love with it. I truly couldn’t stop thinking about how well designed this house is and how wonderful it must be to live in it.

Imagine yourself living in a place where space isn’t an issue, where beauty surrounds you from the indoors to the outdoors.
