Building a new home from scratch is an exciting thing. Whether you are doing it yourself or enlisting the help of professionals there is so much to know about. Once you have built your dream house, then you can decorate it with your choice of art from your favorite gallery, bathroom and kitchen fittings from Hausera, furniture to match the theme and so much more. But before all that, here are some of the important components of building your home which you should pay close attention to.

The foundation is the basis on which your house stands. A strong foundation keeps your house safe against the damages that nature does over the years and slows down the process of ageing of the house. Never rush the foundation of your home.

Pillars and Walls

Pillars and walls are the body of the house which withstands the forces of nature from outside keeping the people safe inside. Use the best quality materials to build your walls and pillars and give them adequate time to dry and set.

Ceiling and Flooring

The ceiling of the house should not be too low as it makes the space appear small and suffocating. Moreover, higher ceilings keep a room cooler in summer. It is important to check with a leveler that the floor is a plain smooth surface without a slope.

Waterproofing the roof

You can get a flat or sloping roof over your head. While a sloping roof helps rainwater slide down, a flat roof can lead to accumulation. Irrespective of which you choose it is important to ensure drainage for flat roofing and proper waterproofing for both to prevent water damage and leaks.

Water and Sewer Lines

Leaking water or sewer lines are not only painfully inconveniencing but also can cause damage to the building. Get the best quality pipes and test them before they are installed. Make sure that all the outlets and connections are properly made and there is no blockage or leakage.

Electricity wires

It is important to ensure that your electrical wiring and load bearing complies with the regulation. Use watt/volt appropriate points as per your needs and do not exceed the limits under any circumstances. All electrical wires must be safely concealed for protection. Test the sockets to ensure that they are all working smoothly before you start living in the house.

Doors and Windows

Doors are windows are the basic and primary protection of your house from the ravages of nature, intrusive eyes of people and unsafe elements. Therefore, it is a smart idea to use good quality seasoned wood, metals and glass for your doors and windows. Install strong and secure locks and if needed you can also opt for smart technology.

A little knowledge goes a long way in helping you build your dream home to perfection. It is a good idea to study up and do some research before you embark on your journey towards building your new home.
