Having a traditional cottage-style on the main floor and a more casual “Up North” cottage feel on the lower level, this home is a great example of how new classic cottage homes are currently being designed.
Some of the must-see features of this home are the octagonal sunroom, handsome stone fireplace with entertainment center, blue and white “Brazilian Utopia granite” kitchen countertops, built-in beds and an inlaid compass rose in the foyer floor.
Set on Long Lake on the picturesque Long Lake Peninsula, this home is a trip into Northern Michigan’s classic cottage country.
New Classic Coastal Home
This place grabbed my attention from the very start… I love the shingles and the low-maintenance landscaping.

Sink in to a down swivel chair and choose the lake view or turn around to chat with the cook.
This sitting room was just added to my wish-list! I hope to have something similar to this in my next home.
Cozy and relaxed, this eating area is perfect for casual meals.
Wall Paint Color: “Sherwin Williams – Antique white”.
The cabinets in this space are 14″ deep which fit between the 10-1/2″ columns. The wood top is 17″ deep between the columns and is 33″ finished height off the floor. They are full custom cabinets along with the rest of the assembly.
A built-in bench with plenty of storage creates an efficient family entry.
The laundry room and mudroom are connected, yet separate by a pocked door if necessary.
Separation from the laundry provides a perfect place for the family dog to hang out while he’s drying off after a swim! Complete with his own entry door!
Also, notice there’s plenty of storage and even a “drop zone”, where you can leave your keys, bags, etc when you first get home.
You’ll find more coastal charm to be admired on the second floor of this home.
This is a really neat idea for a kid’s bedroom, especially when space is at a premium.

Breathe some new life into a classic old cabinet! The porthole mirror set into a barnwood medicine cabinet is flanked by two mason jar lights.
A contemporary touch is quite surprising here.
The more you see this home, the more you love it… take a look at this backyard… it’s “full loaded” with an expansive deck, firepit, hot tub, sandy “beach” and dock.
Close to nature.
Dock + water toys = FUN!

How are you all doing today? We had an okay weekend. Actually, we ended-up at the hospital with my little one on Thursday and we found out he had “croup”. If someone you know ever had it you probably know it’s a little scary. I spent the night by my son because I was scared of the way he was breathing. Like the doctor said, it sounds more scary that it actually is.
He took his medicine and thank GOD he’s much better now… no fever and he’s breathing almost normally now — and so am I.
Have a very blessed week, my friends. And thank you so much for all the emails you often send to me. You guys are always so kind and this means more than I can explain. Thank you!
I hope you feel happy this week… You know that happiness that makes you even look better? Yes… that kind of happiness… the one that comes from inside, from your heart.
