“The cottage was built in the 1800s by my client’s great-great grandfather. They purchased it last year and wanted to restore it. They took down the walls of adobe brick by adobe brick, trying to save as much as possible to be reused. They also removed the original wood floors safely for the same purpose. The huge sink in the butler’s pantry was original to the home, as was the sink in the hall bath. They ended up having to add all new footings to the home, so they decided to add on a bedroom and bathroom, but the rest of the layout went back to the original layout. We did our very best to use the original materials in classic ways to honor the home’s heritage. The T&G ceiling in the kitchen is the original wood floor in the home. The beams are also the original beams in the home, now used in the kitchen. The adobe brick walls inside are all original. Everything else was crafted to feel updated yet period-like.” – Allison Campbell of Allison Campbell Design.
