The big trend for Fall 2026 is warmth with character. Cooler, ultra-minimal rooms are giving way to richer woods, natural stone, deeper colors, pattern, vintage influence, tactile fabrics, softer lighting, and objects that look collected rather than purchased all at once.
Does this mean you need to sell your beloved modern farmhouse and start all over again? Heck no! Stick around, because we can always – always – bring new influences into the spaces we already love without changing the address. And I am here to show you how! đ
This season is less about buying obvious âfall dĂ©corâ and much more about making our homes feel warmer, richer, more personal, and more lived-in. Itâs about adding layers and character in ways that still feel like you.
I hope you feel inspired, and maybe find a few ideas youâll want to bring into your own home this fall. 🤎

Walnut, espresso oak, burl wood and other richly grained woods are coming forward after years dominated by pale white oak. Dark woods is one of Fall 2026’s major trends, and designers are also embracing burl and other character-rich woods.
Does this mean that White Oak is “out”? White oak isn’t going anywhere in my book, but I’m loving the return of deeper wood tones. A walnut coffee table, darker nightstand or even a beautiful wood-framed mirror can add instant depth to a lighter room.

1: Walnut Coffee Table: Thereâs a reason oak is such a furniture favorite. This Walnut Coffee Table showcases its beautiful grain in a rich walnut finish, with a spacious lower shelf thatâs perfect for styling books, baskets, and favorite objects. Itâs also on sale!
2: Oak Media Console: This Oak Media Console is one of those pieces that looks far more expensive than it is. The substantial frame and subtle relief detailing celebrate the natural beauty of the wood, while push-latch doors keep the profile clean and modern. The warm, weathered finish is gorgeous, and the price is extremely fair for the quality. Love finding pieces like this!
3: Darker Hardwood Flooring: For me, this is one of the most timeless wood tones you can choose for hardwood flooring. I know weâre all obsessed with light white oak right nowâand for good reasonâbut when it comes to a look that has truly stood the test of time, “Minwax Jacobean” is hard to beat. The flooring Iâm sharing here has a very similar rich, classic feel.
4. Burl Wood: Letâs be honest: burl wood isnât for everyone. Some love all of its character, while others prefer it in smaller doses. If youâre in the latter camp, try a Burl Wood Tray or Burl Decorative Boxes. Theyâre an easy way to bring in the trend without committing to a large piece.
4a. Burl Wood Tray: A beautiful way to introduce just a touch of burl wood to a coffee table, console, or ottoman.
4b. Burl Decorative Boxes: These add warmth and character while also giving you a pretty place to hide all those little things we somehow accumulate.
4c. Burl Wood Dresser: If you do love burl wood, however, this Burl Wood Dresser is a true showstopper. Iâd let this piece be the star of the room. New!
5. Dark Wood Accents:Â You donât need to replace all of your furniture to embrace darker woods this fall. A mirror or console is an easy way to bring some of that richness into a room.
5a. Round Wood Mirror: The walnut-toned frame of this new Round Wood Mirror feels so right for the season. I especially love the delicate gold bead detailâit adds just the right amount of warmth that we’re craving right now.
5b. 63-Inch Wood Console Table: Pair it with this 63-Inch Wood Console Table for a beautiful, collected look. Other finishes available.

Brown continues to be huge, but Fall 2026 is broadening beyond chocolate into cinnamon, caramel, tobacco and ochre. These spicy mid-tone browns are a major autumn direction, but let’s be real… Although I love a saturated color on walls for a photo shoot, you don’t need brown walls to embrace this trend. A caramel leather chair, cinnamon-colored pillow, warm wood table, brown velvet accent chair, or even a beautiful lamp can completely change the mood of a neutral room.

1: Caramel Leather Swivel Chair: This Caramel Leather Swivel Chair has been a favorite of mine for years! Super stylish and comfortable!
1a: Leather Square Arm Accent Chair: This Leather Square Arm Accent Chair is one of those classics that will never go out of style.
1b: Shearling Doe Chair: If your intention is to feel completely hugged by your furniture (and, why not, right?!), this new Shearling Doe Chair might work better than a hundred therapy sessions – and Iâm willing to try it! Ha! It looks incredibly cozy, and that warm, creamy texture is perfect for the upcoming seasons.
2: 93” Sofa: Ah, this 93″ Sofa is another piece youâll have a hard time getting yourself out of once you sit down. Holy moly, the comfort! Itâs available in so many fabrics and colors too, from light neutrals to rich, moody shades that feel especially good right now. Go for it!
3: Warm Brass Side Table: This Warm Brass Side Table has such a simple, elegant shape. Made of wrought iron with a warm gilded finish, its slim profile allows it to tuck beside almost any sofa or chair without taking up much visual space.
4: New Wingback Bed: This New Wingback Bed comes in several beautiful fabrics, but the Canna Mocha Performance Chenille is absolutely perfect for this chocolate, cinnamon and caramel palette. Warm, sophisticated and incredibly inviting.
4a: 4-Drawer Acacia Nightstand: Pair it with this 4-Drawer Acacia Nightstand if you want to lean into those deeper, richer wood tones. The rounded silhouette also gives the bedroom a softer, more custom look.
4b: 28″ 2-Drawer Nightstand: Or go with this 28″ 2-Drawer Nightstand for something a little lighter and more streamlined. Either option paired with the mocha bed would create a gorgeous designer-inspired bedroom.

After years of very quiet interiors, pattern is finding its way back into our homes. The key is making it feel collected rather than coordinated. Checks, stripes, plaids, florals and traditional motifs are being layered rather than perfectly matched.

2b: Amber Lewis x Loloi Decorative Pillow: Want something a little more subtle? The Amber Lewis x Loloi Decorative Pillow is perfect for that. It adds beautiful texture and warmth while keeping things soft and neutral.
3: Swivel Arm Chair: This Swivel Arm Chair is a designer favorite for good reason. The quality is something that’s becoming harder to find these days, and with so many fabric options available, you can really customize it to work with your space.
3a: Swivel Barrel Chair with Solid Wood Base: Looking for something a little more budget-friendly? This Swivel Barrel Chair with Solid Wood Base gives you a similar cozy look for less. I especially love the warmth the wood base brings to it.
4: Brown Block Print Pillow Cover: I love this Brown Block Print Pillow Cover in 100% cotton. The pattern adds just enough interest while the warm brown makes it incredibly easy to mix with other neutrals.
4a: Oxblood Block Print Throw Pillow: But if you want to bring the color of the season into your home, this Oxblood Block Print Throw Pillow Cover is the one. That deep, rich color adds instant warmth to a bedroom or living room and looks especially beautiful layered with creams, browns, and warm woods.
5: Buffalo Check Throw: I haven’t told you guys this yet, but this Buffalo Check Throw is something I honestly wish I could wear! It’s beyond beautiful, I love the colors, and it would make such a gorgeousâand practicalâgift.
5a: Zara Floral Block Reversible Cotton Throw: The Zara Floral Block Reversible Cotton Throw is made from 100% prewashed cotton with cotton filling, giving it that wonderfully soft and cozy feel. I also love that it’s reversible, so you get two looks in one.
5b: Dreamy Handwoven Fringe Throw: And if you’re still a plain-throw person but want something incredibly cozy in a beautiful fall color, the Dreamy Handwoven Fringe Throw is one I highly recommend. This is the kind of throw you’ll actually want to use, not just style over the arm of a chair.

This may be one of the most important trends for our Home Bunch community going into 2027. Traditional design is returning, but without the heaviness or formality we once associated with it. “House Beautiful” describes the emerging âNew Traditionalismâ as craftsmanship, classic forms and historical references mixed with contemporary pieces, pattern and color.
Think antique-inspired furniture + clean upholstery + warm wood + brass + art + a little pattern. This ties beautifully into this California Home with Earthy Interiors I recently shared with you.

1: SAVE: Want the look for less? This Spindle Four-Post Bed gives you that timeless, collected feel at a much more approachable price. Such a good find!
1a: SPLURGE: This Four-Post Bed has such a beautiful New England-inspired look, with stepped posts and handcrafted bobbin detailing. The wire-brushed finish gives the wood even more depth and character. It’s classic American design, and I’m noticing designers using beds like this in their projects more and more lately.
2: Antique-Style Wood Stool: If there’s one thing I’m taking away from this return to warmer, more collected interiors, it’s that classic will always be classic. An Antique-Style Wood Stool is proof of that. It’s one of those little pieces that somehow looks good in almost any interior… And can move from room to room for years.
3. Framed Vintage Art can add character almost anywhere, from a kitchen wall to above the bed.
3a. Gray Seas: Soft light on the horizon, billowing gray clouds, and a distant sailboat give Gray Seas a wonderfully moody feel. Its subdued palette makes it easy to live with, while still adding plenty of atmosphere to a room.
3b: View of St Catherineâs Hill Near Guildford â View of the Village: This beautiful landscape by Charles Claude Pyne feels like a little window into the English countryside. The soft colors and pastoral scenery have that wonderfully collected, old-world quality that works so well with the return of traditional interiors. It looks gorgeous above a bed.
3c. Gray Hillside: I love the quiet simplicity of Gray Hillside. Layers of softly muted hills give it an almost timeworn quality, while the rich maroon mat and pine frame make it look like a beautifully collected, custom-framed piece. New!
3d:Â View of the Village: Historic architecture and calm waters give View of the Village that timeless, old-world European charm I love. The soft, painterly look paired with the black and gold frame makes it feel like a piece you might have collected on your travels rather than something you just purchased. New!
3e: Frame Gallery: This Gallery Frame Collection is something I’m loving, loving lately. It’s such an easy way to make a room feel more personal and collected.
4: Wall-Mounted Plates: It’s often the little things that bring that New Traditionalism we’re starting to love again into a home. Wall-Mounted Plates are one of themâand don’t forget the Bracket Shelves. Together, they add so much old-world charm and personality.
4a: Etched Garden Stoneware Plates – Set of 4: They look like a piece of art. Love the color palette!
5: Woven Basket: The more natural and imperfect, the better! I love finding these at thrift stores, but if you prefer new, the ones I am sharing today are just perfect!
6: Suede Lamp: This Suede Table Lamp gives off the softest, most muted glow. Warm, textural, and understatedâbasically everything you want from a table lamp when you’re trying to make a room feel cozy and inviting.

I LOVE this one for you.
Designers are moving away from rooms that feel perfectly staged and toward patina, personal objects, vintage pieces, art, books and furnishings that tell a story. This connects perfectly with the philosophy I wrote for my Home Bunch Favorites in July where I said: “The more I experience life, the less I strive for perfection.”
Fall 2026 is essentially giving us permission to stop making every room look like a showroom. Hallelujah!

1: Small Wood Cabinet: Adding a Small Wood Cabinet at the end of a hallway, living room or in a foyer is such an easy way to bring in extra charm… And a little more storage never hurts! This one is affordable and perfectly in tune with the collected, traditional look we’re seeing right now.
2: Vintage Inspired Gold Iron Table Clock: This Vintage-Inspired Gold Iron Table Clock is one of those little details that instantly makes a space feel more charming and lived-in. I love it styled on a bookshelf, nightstand, or tucked into a collected console display.
3: Wall-Mounted Dinner Bell : How charming is this Wall-Mounted Dinner Bell? It’s a small detail, but it brings such a nostalgic, old-fashioned feeling to a home! Super cute.
4: Linen Tablecloth: Linen is one of those rare things in life that only gets more beautiful with age. A Linen Tablecloth is an easy way to bring that relaxed, lived-in feeling to your dining room, and the price on this one is soooo good!
4a. Linen Duvet Cover: The same goes for a Linen Duvet Cover. The natural texture can completely change the look and feel of your bedroom without changing anything else. And again, the price is incredible!
5: Upholstered Ottoman: This Upholstered Ottoman comes in so many beautiful fabric options and is really well made. I love the look of a pair tucked under a large console table, in a living room as a coffee table, or simply adding one between two chairs. It’s practical, but it also makes a room feel more thoughtfully layered.

One of my favorite trends of 2026 is seeing kitchens feel like rooms again. A little lamp on the counter, a framed piece of art, a beautiful wood board leaning against the backsplash, or a bowl filled with seasonal fruit can bring so much warmth without adding clutter.

1: Fluted Metal Vase: This Fluted Metal Vase in Distressed Antique Brass is something I must have! It’s even more beautiful in person, and I love the idea of using it as a utensil crock. Such an unexpected way to bring warmth and a little old-world character into the kitchen.
2: Â Vintage-Inspired Counter Stool: This dark Vintage-Inspired Counter Stool combines an intricately woven seat with a warm walnut finish. I love the contrast between the darker wood and lighter upholstery… It feels classic but still very current.
2a. Leather Counter Stool: Prefer something backless? There are only a few of these 26″ Genuine Leather Counter Stools left. The warm leather and turned wood legs give them so much character.

4. Vintage-Inspired Cabinet Hardware: Never underestimate what new hardware can do for a kitchen. Vintage-Inspired Cabinet Hardware can completely transform even the simplest cabinetry. Try unlacquered brass if you love a finish that develops a beautiful, natural patina over time.
4a: This Bin Pull is a bestseller that stands the test of time. Couldn’t love it more!
4: Vintage-Inspired Cabinet Hardware can really transform any cabinet. Try these in Unlacquered Brass for the ultimate patina and timeless feel.
5: Linen CafĂ© Curtains: Linen CafĂ© Curtains might be one of my favorite ways to make a kitchen instantly feel softer and cozier. They add texture and privacy while still allowing plenty of natural light to come through. You’ll love the price of these!
5a: Vintage-Style Willow Baskets: I’m sharing three Vintage-Style Willow Baskets because I couldn’t choose just one! Use them for produce, linens, pantry storage, or simply leave one on display – I have a few on top of my cabinets. The more natural and slightly imperfect they look, the better. Links: 5a Basket, 5b Basket & 5c Basket.Â
5d: Antique Brass Pendant: This Antique Brass Pendant Light brings warmth without feeling heavy. The softly scalloped shade gives it a little personality, while the brass adds that timeless glow we’re craving in kitchens right now.
5e: Charcuterie Board: A beautiful Oak Leaf Wood Charcuterie Board isn’t just for entertaining. Leave it leaning against the backsplash when you’re not using it and it becomes part of the dĂ©cor. I especially love the carved detail on this one. It’s perfect for this season… Imagine serving a pumpkin pie on it!
5f: Plaid & Woven Table Lamp: This Plaid Woven Table Lamp has that relaxed, collected look I love. The pleated tartan shade casts such a warm glow and would look beautiful tucked into a corner of the kitchen or on a sideboard.
5g: Antique-Style Wood Riser: This Antique-Style Wood Riser is another one of those small pieces that adds instant character. Use it for oils and seasonings beside the range, under a vase, or simply as a beautiful layer on the counter.
5h: Framed Still-Life Art: Don’t forget art in the kitchen. This little framed fruit still life is exactly the kind of detail that makes a kitchen feel less utilitarian and more like a room you actually want to spend time in.
5i: Cordless Rattan Table Lamp: Yes, lamps belong in kitchens! This small, cordless Rattan Table Lamp is a charming way to add softer lighting, texture, and pattern to a countertop.

How to Make a Modern Farmhouse Feel Warmer and More Current: If you love your modern farmhouse, keep loving it! The easiest way to make it feel more current is simply to warm up whatâs already there. You donât need to replace your white kitchen (because we all love a white kitchen, don’t we?! I do!!!) or paint over every white wall. Instead, layer in richer wood tones, warm brass, aged or vintage-inspired pieces, natural stone, woven textures, linen, deeper earthy colors, and a little pattern. Swap a cool gray rug for something warmer, add a walnut side table beside your white sofa, replace a few black accents with aged brass, or bring in pillows in chocolate, olive, cinnamon, or muted plaid.
And one of my favorite tricks? Change the lighting. Warmer bulbs, table lamps, sconces, and even a small lamp on a kitchen counter can instantly soften a modern farmhouse space.
The goal isnât to make your home look like a completely different style. Itâs to make the style you already love feel warmer, more layered, and more like it has evolved with you.
It feels so wonderful to be starting another October with you by my side. After all these years of sharing homes, ideas, and little pieces of life here on Home Bunch, I never take that for granted.
Iâm writing this while dealing with a terrible cold, and everyone at home seems to have it too. But you know how it is… we moms somehow find the energy to keep things moving. đ
This post feel quite personal to me… The older I get, the more I realize that home isnât about getting everything âright.â Life changes us, seasons change us, and our homes should be allowed to change with us, too. Keep the old chair you love. Embrace the scratches on the family table. Add something new simply because it makes you happy.
Maybe thatâs why Iâm loving this return to warmer, more collected interiors. Thereâs something comforting about a home that isnât perfect, but feels lived in, loved, and yours. This is how I want my home to always feel, that it belongs to all five of us, well, six, with Marley (our adopted Mini Aussie).Â
Thank you for starting another October with me, my friends. Now, Iâm off to make something warm to drink and hopefully convince this cold that it has overstayed its welcome. đ
Have a beautiful and cozy October. Weâll talk again soon. 🤎
Thank you so much for being here.
