Celine Dion has her new house for sale. The international superstar and her husband, Rene Angelil, built the custom stone mansion in 2001. The house is located on a private island measuring over 830,000 square feet in Montreal, Canada. Celine Dion is selling her new house as turn-key with almost all its contents, including all the furniture (most antiques); artwork; decorative accessories; Persian rugs; linens; china; glassware; flatware and more.
A private gated bridge with security post welcomes you onto the island which is completely fenced in for maximum privacy and security. If one prefers, a helipad can be created to make access by air possible. In the style of a French Normand Chateau, the 24,000 square foot residence is completely sheathed in stone with dramatic slate roof. The luxurious classical interiors are unrivaled in their finishing and detailing.
The main floor features a formal living room and dining room seating eighteen, completely custom “la Cornue” kitchen, spectacular paneled library and family room with custom fireplaces and built-ins, informal dining, sunrooms and an office.
A beautiful winding staircase leads to the second level featuring the master’s suites as well as the children’s suite. The third storey houses a guest bedroom and home gym with state of the art equipment. Tranquil water views are present from almost every room of the house.
On the lower level, you will find a games’ room and a vaulted stone wine cellar with integrated tasting room. The exterior features numerous stone terraces from which you can appreciate the surrounding water views and natural forested environment, a large in-ground pool and fabulous pool house equipped with its own kitchen and built-in grill making outdoor entertaining a delight.
Celine Dion and Angelil usually live in Florida but use the Montreal residence when they come home to Quebec and I’ve heard her mother lives very close by.
If you’re wondering why Celine is selling this house, we haven’t this confirmed but, the house was broke into in September of 2011. According to CTV News, a 36-year-old man allegedly broke into Celine Dion’s house near Montreal, raided the fridge and even took the time to pour himself a bath! He was nabbed by the police after the alarm system went off. “He opened the water faucets, was pouring a nice warmish bath (and) he even managed to eat some pastry that was in the fridge,” Di Genova said. “The suspect was coming down the big staircase and was asking: Hey, guys what are you doing here?’,” Di Genova said. “So the officers replied: ‘What are you doing here?’ and they proceeded to put him under arrest.”
Police say they found various stickers around the house. They had times and the names of people on them but the notes were not threatening.
Could this be the reason Celine Dion has her new house for sale? Perhaps, but she’s in no rush, with a price tag of $29,655,500, I’m not sure how fast it will sell.

This is a very traditional library and nothing really surprises me here. We have seen this look way too many times. But, there’s many stunning pieces and the room itself is done with excellent materials.

The sunroom is used as a casual eating area and it has stone walls and Jerusalem stone floors.

This is the formal eating area. Do you like it?
Color
I truly like the table, but I think the curtains are too heavy for this room. Also, there’s too much of the same color on the wallpaper, curtains and chairs.
Family Room
The family room has a very large and comfortable sofa and a wall-to-wall built-in. Notice the steps on the right (behind the sofa) to the eating area.

The beautiful buit-in and the fireplace. Notice the picture of Celine and her family above the mantel.
Celine Dion’s Bedroom
The mater bedroom is dreamy. About the room: the bedroom has delicate wall moldings, an exquisite canopy bed and boasts a separate boudoir with double height ceilings, separate soaking tub quarters for the ultimate relaxing experience, classical ensuite bathroom with vaulted marble shower and the ultimate walk-in closet!

I know! You probably are thinking I’ve made a mistake, right? But, no! This is still Celine’s house! This is another wing of the house, for her kids.

Very contemporary and very comfy. I love the couch. I could spend all day there. 🙂

Even if this isn’t your style, one thing we can’t deny, this house was built with an extensive attention to detail and truly amazing materials. But regardless of it all, would you pay almost $30 mil for it?
