‘ client wanted to update her builder-grade kitchen into a designer kitchen that was still simple, yet beautiful. She and her husband were hoping for a brand new navy blue island with lots of built-in storage (hidden paper towels, pull-out microwave, even candy-jar storage!!!). Of course, all the outdated finishes had to go, along with the lighting. To make the room more spacious, the designer took out the dividing wall between the living and kitchen, creating one great room with easy traffic flow. They also resized the window in the cozy breakfast nook where a built-in bench with underneath storage was tucked into.
There was a design flaw with the kitchen island. The old location of the island was so close to the fridge, and this made it very difficult for these clients to access the fridge. The designer had to move it a bit towards the breakfast side to allow more space on the fridge side. Modern accessories accompanied the classic material selections, making the overall feel fresh and vibrant.
