If you love warm neutrals but want something with a little more depth than the ever-popular Agreeable Gray, Sherwin-Williams Anew Gray SW 7030 is certainly worth considering.
Anew Gray is a warm, mid-tone greige that beautifully balances gray and beige. It feels grounded, inviting, and sophisticated without being overly dark.
Sherwin-Williams describes Anew Gray as a mellow, mid-tone neutral. It has an LRV of 47, meaning it reflects a moderate amount of light and will bring noticeable color and depth to a room.

Anew Gray is a true greige – a combination of gray and beige – but it generally leans warmer and deeper than Sherwin-Williams Agreeable Gray – but a lot, I’d say! Anew Gray is a paint color that has depth.
Its main undertones are:
– Warm beige
– Soft taupe
– Subtle gray
– A slight violet undertone that may appear in certain lighting
The violet undertone is usually very subtle, but it can become more noticeable when Sherwin Williams Anew Gray is placed beside flooring, countertops, or fabrics with strong yellow, pink, or orange undertones.
NOTE: Anew Gray is not a cool gray. It feels warmer, earthier, and more substantial, making it a beautiful choice for homes with natural materials and layered neutral interiors.
Like every greige paint color, Anew Gray will change throughout the day.
North-Facing Rooms:
North-facing light tends to be cooler and can make Anew Gray appear grayer, deeper, and slightly more muted. Because its LRV is 47, it may feel quite rich in a room with limited natural light.
Use plenty of warm artificial lighting and lighter furnishings and decor items such as light linen draperies (these Linen Memory Trained Pinch Pleated Curtains are my favorites, by the way!), linen upholstered furniture and rugs made out of natural materials, if you want to keep the room feeling welcoming.
South-Facing Rooms:
Warm southern light brings out Anew Gray’s beige and taupe undertones. In these rooms, it can feel especially warm, soft, and inviting.
This is often where Anew Gray looks its most balanced.
East-Facing Rooms:
Anew Gray will appear warmer in the morning and slightly cooler or grayer later in the day.
West-Facing Rooms:
It may look more neutral during the morning, becoming noticeably warmer and richer in the late-afternoon light.
Artificial Lighting:
Warm-white bulbs around 2700K to 3000K will complement Anew Gray’s warmth. Cooler bulbs may emphasize its gray or subtle violet undertones, which I’d avoid.
Choosing the right white is essential when working with a warm greige.
Pure White is my favorite versatile option with Anew Gray. It feels clean without creating an overly stark contrast.

Alabaster creates a softer, warmer look. It will make SW Anew Gray to feel warmer.

Incredible White is a subtle off-white from the same color family. It creates a quiet, tonal combination with Anew Gray.

Greek Villa is a warm, creamy off-white with soft beige and subtle yellow undertones. With an LRV of 84, it creates a noticeable yet gentle contrast with Anew Gray without looking stark or overly bright.
Always sample Greek Villa directly beside Anew Gray and your fixed materials. If Greek Villa appears too creamy or yellow in your room, Sherwin-Williams Pure White SW 7005 will provide a cleaner, more neutral contrast.

Anew Gray works beautifully with natural and timeless materials, including:
– White oak
– Medium and dark-stained woods
– Walnut
– Natural linen
– Cream and oatmeal fabrics
– Honed marble
– Warm white quartz
– Limestone
– Travertine
– Unlacquered or aged brass
– Polished nickel
– Soft black or bronze accents
It is particularly beautiful with white marble and warm metal finishes. It can also help bridge the visual gap between cool stone and warm wood.
Be more careful with strongly gray, yellow, orange, or pink-toned flooring. These finishes may bring out undertones you did not notice on a small paint chip.
Anew Gray has enough depth to define a room while remaining neutral and versatile.
Interior Walls:
Consider Anew Gray for: Living rooms, Dining rooms, Bedrooms, Offices, Powder rooms, Hallways with sufficient light, Open-concept spaces with warm finishes
NOTE: Anew Gray may feel darker than expected in a small room with little natural light because it is a mid-tone color.
Kitchen Cabinets:
Anew Gray is an excellent cabinet color. It gives cabinetry more warmth and dimension than a pale gray while remaining timeless.
It works especially well with: White marble or quartz countertops, Warm white walls, Brass or polished nickel hardware, White oak accents and Natural stone backsplashes
Kitchen Island:
If an entire kitchen in Anew Gray feels like too much, consider using it only on the island. It brings depth to an otherwise white kitchen without creating a harsh contrast.
Bathroom Vanity:
Anew Gray is also a beautiful choice for bathroom vanities, particularly when paired with warm white stone, marble, and polished nickel or brass fixtures.
Exterior:
Sherwin-Williams lists Anew Gray for interior and exterior use. Outdoors, the abundance of natural light will generally make it appear lighter and more neutral than it does inside.
The correct finish depends on where the color is being used.
Walls: Matte or eggshell
High-traffic walls: Eggshell or satin
Kitchen cabinets: Satin or semi-gloss
Bathroom vanity: Satin or semi-gloss
Trim and interior doors: Satin or semi-gloss
Ceiling: Flat
Exterior siding: Low-lustre or satin, depending on the surface and paint product
For cabinets and vanities, choose a durable enamel designed specifically for cabinetry rather than standard wall paint.

Anew Gray is darker and more saturated than Sherwin-Williams Agreeable Gray SW 7029.
Agreeable Gray has an LRV of 60, while Anew Gray has an LRV of 47. Anew Gray will therefore bring significantly more depth to walls or cabinetry.
If Agreeable Gray looks too pale or washed out in your room, Anew Gray may provide the warmth and contrast you are looking for.
Absolutely! Anew Gray is a timeless warm neutral that works especially well with today’s natural woods, creamy textiles, warm stones, and organic materials.
It is a great option if you want a neutral that feels more grounded than a very light greige but softer than a dark taupe or charcoal.
I have been sharing paint colors for over fifteen years and my advice is for you to never choose a paint color from an online image or a small paint chip alone.
