With snow falling outside and a fire roaring right in front of me, I couldn’t pick a better home to share with you today.
Located in Montana, this approximately 3500 sq.ft. ski lodge (or mountain home as many call it) is a place that stuns with its refined rustic interiors.
Artfully designed by Peace Design Architects & Designer and Highline Partners, Ltd, this home uses natural and reclaimed materials such as Harlowton Stone, wide plank oak floors and fir beams, incorporating mountain rustic with modern architecture that often pleases many.
It’s easy for anyone to imagine spending a weekend at this ski lodge, skiing all day and coming home to enjoy some quiet time by the fire…
Welcome to winter wonderland!
Rustic Ski Lodge
This kitchen is full of brilliant ideas and it has so much character.
Kitchen Countertop: The island countertop is solid walnut and the perimeter is soapstone.
Dimensions: The top is 36″ wide x 8’0″ long.
The cabinets are made from reclaimed oak and it was finished with a matte poly sealer. They were built by a local shop, Integrity Builders.
This great industrial fixture was found at Beau Holland Studio at ADAC. It is an antique pendant, most likely from a French factory.
The stools were found at the Scott Antique Market in Atlanta. They are vintage and have a steel frame with wooden seat.
Kitchen Open Shelves Ideas
The homeowners found this antique dish rack during their travels and the builders integrated into the design. It’s a fantastic piece!
The shelving unit is approximately 6’0″ w x 40″H.
Range is a “Wolf 48-Inch Gas Range”.
All of the cabinet hardware in the kitchen is by Rocky Mountain Hardware.
Looking for a really original idea for backsplash? How about cookie sheets? That’s right! The range backsplash is covered with antique iron cookie sheets. How clever is that?
Rustic Living Room
This living room could not get any better! I love every detail found here, from the amazing ceilings to the stunning fireplace.
Notice the small desk area and loft above the stairs and a wine cellar under it.
Room Dimensions: This space is approximately 15’9″ x 21’0″ and the ceiling is 20’0″ at its highest point.
The rug is custom by Tai Ping.
The stone used on this property, inside and out is a regional favorite, Harlowton Stone.

The bedskirt was made from a Larsen fabric.
A cozy spot to write.

Rustic Craft Room/Playroom
These antique chairs and fan are a great addition to this playroom. Colorful and fun!
These thick glass panels are installed in the floor with a iron mesh below that act as a “sky light” to the wine cellar below.
This wine cellar is narrow but really efficient. I love the glass above… Such an unique feature!
On the Road
The walls in this bathroom are covered in vintage license plates. What do you think? Like it or not?
The designers used approximately 160 license plates to cover 3 partial walls; (2) walls at 4’4″ x 8’0″ and (1) 6’0″ x 8’0″.
Mirror was a great find at an antique market. Countertop is steel that was fabricated by a local metal shop.
Rustic Mudroom & Laundry Room
Rustic and fabulous, this mudroom practically connects to the laundry room.
Floors are natural Frontier Flagstone.
The material for the bench is hewn slab, the species is oak and walls are natural weathered oak barnwood. I love its patina!
Both rugs shown here are vintage Navajos rugs.

Media Room & Bunk Room
This media/bunk room is spectacular!
These bunk beds are perfect for some extra guests. The uppers are accessed by built-in stone steps and hand rail on the stone pillar. The railing was done by a local metal shop from reclaimed bar stock.
Bedding is from Pendleton, the “Yakima” camp blanket.
Sectional is by Lexington Furniture from the metropolitan collection.

We’re still in the middle of a snow storm but we managed to stay put and watch a Christmas movie together with some hot cocoa.
I just hope the kids don’t have school tomorrow, so we can stay in bed a little longer… is there any other better place to be in a cold, stormy day? 🙂
Have a fun and safe week, my friends.
It’s a blessing having each and every one of you here!

Amazing home ! What a treat to see inside – the photos are just beautiful ! I’m ready to move right in – one of my favorite styles of decorating – thanks for a view of “how the other half lives”!
One of my favorite styles also – love this home!
Sure wish I was friends with these homeowners so I could stay in that dreamy guest room and then have coffee and read blogs at the kitchen table while looking out at the mountains. I have the photo of the plate rack on a Pinterest board and it’s been repinned a bunch. Glad I got to see the rest of this house.
this house is very cozy and beautiful I want to go in it. In Germany wie miss the snow but it
was so much in the last years!!
Thank you for your warm words and many greetings.
Thanks for showing this amazing home. It’s cosy, it’s quirky, how can you not love it? 😀
One of the most amazing houses I wish I could visit for myself and maybe stay for a month! 😀 The kitchen design is full of inspirational ideas. Indeed, the antique iron cookie sheets for a backsplash design is awesome!
I would like to pin the media/bunk room on pinterest but I think you’re the only one who can. I’d like to keep this picture for future reference. Is it possible to pin it myself? As always, you have the best design ideas and inspiration. Thank you so much and have a wonderful holiday season with your family!

Fabulous. There are so many wonderful details.
