Quaint little cottages are always a favorite of mine, but it’s always refreshing to see “modern and sleek” cottages like this one.
Located in Newport Beach, California and meticulously designed by William Guidero Planning and Design, this modern beachfront cottage sits on a 30’x 80′ oceanfront lot and consists of about 2500 sq ft. The interiors feel fresh, airy and very casual. It also carries a perfect layout for entertaining, which is always a plus when you have a cottage.
Now, relax, bring your flip-flops and let’s go for a walk on the beach….
Modern Beachfront Cottage
The lot is tiny, but the architect surely designed this home to take advantage of the stunning ocean view.

The doors are Jeld -Wen aluminum clad.
Ocean View Living Room
It’s easy to fall in love with this cottage when you see this room and the beach view. I really like how casual and comfortable this space feels. You want to sit down and relax…
Note the entryway with a Dutch door on the right and the board and batten design above the fireplace.
Beautiful decor on the mantel.
Mantel was constructed with a piece of reclaimed wood.
The ceilings are 1×6 T&G wood and wood beams. Perfect for a beach house.
Beautiful combination of crisp white and cream with a hint of blue decor are found in the entire main floor.
Cook & Eat
Bringing the dining area close to the wall allows more space to the rest of room.
I really like the fabric combination on the custom bench. Very classic coastal!
Let’s put it simple: This is a great, uncomplicated kitchen design. I love it!
Measurements: The range wall is 36″ and the counter on each side is about 40″.

Master Bedroom Loft
Now, how great is this for a master bedroom?! I really like the idea of having a loft, especially in a cottage (or smaller home) where space is at a premium.
I also like the furniture layout, with a sitting area (note the worn leather chairs) and built-in shelves, desk and extra storage.
With rope hardware and ocean views, this bathroom is truly full of great ideas!
The mirrors in the master bath are metal frame and purchased at Anthropologie.

I have to say that I love seeing beach homes… wouldn’t it be wonderful to open your doors and have the sand only a few steps away? The best part would be sleeping hearing the waves…
I hope you’re feeling good and healthy today. It’s raining here and I might bake something. I have to say that cooking is being my “therapy” after my grandmother passed away. I feel at peace when I am cooking and I especially enjoy doing it with my kids.
Wishing you all a wonderful day!
Thank you for stopping by… we’ll talk again tomorrow!
