Cottage: Hampton Beach

This beach cottage was designed by interior designer Jim Gauthier. The beach cottage, located in Hampton Beach, is  where the owner spends his summer vacations with his extended family and friends.

When the designer was looking to purchase a beach cottage, he knew he wanted a spacious place, and he fell in love with this cottage for the same reason; it had plenty of space, but lacked on charm. The facade felt lifeless and there was nothing that attracted Jim to the exterior. Soon after purchasing the cottage, he asked architect Bruce Miller to transform the outdated facade into a very charming place to build beautiful summer memories.

The result is a place that welcomes you as soon you see it and makes you wish summer lasted the whole year.

Foyer

I love the brick floors. Rustic and charming at the same time.

Living Room

This is the kind of living room that everyone wants to spend time in. Comfortable and fun.

Dining Room

The dark walls in the dining room makes the room feel very cozy.

Kitchen

The dark brown walls creates an interesting contrast with the rest of the kitchen. The island is a an antique piece. Notice the ceilings.

Nook Area

This cozy nook is located between the kitchen and dining room.

Hooked

Unique.

Master Bedroom

The master bedroom feels bright and airy.

Sunroom

Bring color with furniture and accessories. I also love the idea of using vintage furniture outdoors, like they did here with the table.

Swing

The front porch of the cottage is the perfect place to be after a day at the beach.

Play

Create fun!

Lobster

What a gorgeous garden shed!

B is for Beach

This beach cottage is only a couple of steps from the beach.

What do you think of this beach cottage? Isn’t it a beautiful place? I’m in love with the living room and the nook area. What about you? Do you have a favorite room?

Its’ being incredibly warm here lately and to be completely honest, I prefer mild weather, not too warm, not too cold. I know, I know… I’m picky! :-) I feel so tired when it’s this hot and I even loose my appetite.

Maybe I’ll make some lemonade with lots of ice and relax during this afternoon with the kids. Summer will soon end and I want to make as many memories as I can with my little ones.

I hope you also can find a minute today to share with someone you love.

It’s wonderful, Luciane. Love the warm and relaxed feel, just how a beach house should be and the colors are fabulous!! The brown and white stripe is so unexpected, but it’s great…hope all is well with your sweet family and you’re enjoying your summer. xoxo

I know what you mean about the hot weather – it sucks the life out of me and makes me so crabby! Looking forward to the Fall!

  8. This home left me a little cold. I like a warmer, cozier looking home.

I had to Google Hampton Beach when I saw this post…. and I then saw ‘New England Home’ to see that this was in New Hampshire and not in The Hamptons, LI, or East Hampton, CT (where I originally thought it was either of those places) from reading “Hampton Beach” — Guess there are a lot of places with “Hampton” in the name!
    Best,
    Gloria

I love so many things about this house,
the stripe walls, brick floors and the cozy nook on the kitchen are just some of the lovely things I like. And not to mention that its location is tops too.
