What kind of cottage do you prefer? Beach or country? Some people (add me to the list) could never be too far away from the ocean and others, would rather be tucked away in the country, surrounded by trees and with plenty of privacy. If you like both options, this might be just the perfect cottage for you to dream about today. Located on Nantucket island, this shingle cottage is in the country, but not too far away from the waves.
Not only does the location make this country cottage attractive, the interiors are also very impressive. Embracing a casual approach, the interior designer Sophie Metz, from “Sophie Metz Design“, designed this place with comfort and serenity in mind. Beautiful crisp whites seamlessly blend with warm hues and greys, making this cottage a very calming place to visit, or if you’re very lucky, to live in.
Country Cottage with Casual Interiors
A touch of industrial always add character to any kitchen. Here, the designer added some vintage-inspired stools to bring some charm and interest to the space.
Lighting above island is the “Randolph Pendant from Hudson Valley Lighting”.
The countertops are honed “Pietra de Cardoza granite”, a harder alternative to soapstone.
Overall, this kitchen has a soft feel thanks to its color palette.
The tile is a custom color (seafoam-ish) 2″x4″ subway porcelain with a hand-applied glaze by “Mexican Handcrafted Tile Inc.”.
The dining area is all about simplicity. Nothing feels complicated or overwhelming in this space, but it still has plenty of character.
Table and chairs are from Restoration Hardware.
The chandelier is called “Rittenhouse by Arteriors”.
Millwork & Floors
Floors are reclaimed white oak, rift and quartered, with a catalyzed waterborne urethane finish.
Paneling: The walls are paneled with full sheets of mdf and slats and moldings are poplar.
This bathroom feels clean, light and timeless. Who would love to soak in that bath for hours with a good book?
Note the beautiful marble flooring and classic white subway tiles in the shower.
Simplicity is always relaxing to me. In this bathroom, beautiful white marble countertop complements the crisp white walls and cabinetry. Note the wainscot shelf with rounded corner shelf.
This property is inspiring inside and out. Isn’t the guest cottage adorable?
The weather is perfect here and I might get out of the house and go for a walk. I love feeling the ocean’s breeze (we live a block from the bay) and it’s always nice to walk while hearing the waves. Going for walks always make me think about life and feel a little closer to God.
In fact, even with everything we go through in life, we must try to focus on the positive things that are happening right now with us.
The way we see our lives can definitely change our definition about happiness, and gratitude surely can bring you closer to it.
Now, go enjoy your day! We’ll talk again tomorrow.
