Located in Rehoboth Beach, DE and designed by Anthony Wilder Design/Build, Inc., this single beach house is extraordinary in every way, starting with its classic architecture and its refined coastal interiors.
According to the designer, the homeowner wanted a nautical theme throughout the home and you can surely see this appealing motif being applied in a subtle and elegant way. You will notice a soothing coastal color pallet as soon you enter the house and face the light-filled living room. The kitchen is also another space in this home that can’t be missed! It carries a calming feeling thanks to the off-white cabinetry painted in the popular “Benjamin Moore OC-17 White Dove” and the practical double islands.
One thing that really made me love this beach house even more is the driveway. The clients wanted an u-shaped driveway made of crushed sea shells. It is self-maintaining for the most part except for the occasional weed that will grow through. It really completes the beach home look.
Overall, this home is a place which embraces its natural environment, allowing beautiful water views to be appreciated from inside and out.
Let’s dream away…
Shingle Beach House with Classic Coastal Interiors
A bright living room with coastal decor welcomes you as soon you enter the house. A soft color palette keeps the room feeling relaxing while some color brings this room to life.
One really neat feature in this home is the cross ventilation made possible by the copious windows and doors throughout the home, as well as the position of the house on the lot. Architect, Sean Mullin, AIA says “even in the summer, you rarely need air conditioning because the window and door design allow for excellent air flow and ventilation.”
Notice the coffered ceiling, transom windows, the stone fireplace and the lovely water view.
In the family room, the ceiling (coffered) is actually painted light blue to create a subtle contrast between the trim of the coffered ceiling and the ceiling itself.
Almost the entire house carries natural wood floors in a matte finish creating a really unique and beach-ey aesthetic.
Finding kitchens with two islands is becoming very common. I have to say that sometimes this can be an overwhelming and unnecessary choice, but having two smaller islands like we see above is not only visual appealing, but also very practical. One island is your prep area and you use the other to eat casual meals.
Cabinet Paint Color
The cabinet paint color is “Benjamin Moore OC-17 White Dove”.
The kitchen island countertop is polished granite with eased edge- the species is “Fusion”.
The kitchen and dining room were designed with entertaining in mind. It can easily accommodate a 10 person dinner party at table. The glass folding doors to the screened in porch fold completely open to merge the porch with the dining room.
Table and chairs are from Arhaus. The fabric on the chairs is custom.
Chandelier is an “E.F. Chapman Round Flatline Chandelier”.
This powder room feels simple and fresh. I am loving the custom floating bathroom vanity.
Similar mirror can be found at “Restoration Hardware”.
According to the architect, “the stairs are reclaimed oak. Halfway through design process, homeowners saw a photo of a freestanding staircase and wanted a more contemporary staircase to add to the eclectic nature of the home. It has a steel frame painted in matte black finish”.
The freestanding design allowed for a piano nook under staircase! Isn’t it a smart idea?
Compass inlay on the floor points true north.
Art is a ” Daude” Framed Art Print 26 x 32-inch.
The master bedroom is pure inspiration, from the combination of bold paint color with soothing decor to the incredible built-ins.
Fan is a “Minka Aire Concept I 44 Ceiling Fan in White”.
Impeccable craftsmanship and attention to detail!
The master bathroom feels coastal and modern and it carries beautiful tiling on floors and walls.
How dreamy is this shower? A glass wall transforms the shower into a very spacious area.
With a coastal motif, this guest bedroom feels approachable, airy and relaxed.
This bathroom has a very clean feel. I am loving the shower design and bench.
What I like the most about this bedroom are the water views, the stunning floors and the custom bed. It would be wonderful to open the doors to the patio in a sunny day.
All bedrooms have windows that maximize views and all have access to a balcony- some private, and some shared.
Gray Bathroom Vanity
This custom gray vanity is spacious and it has a great design. It’s easy to get inspired by it!
The paint color in this bedroom makes all the decor and architectural details pop even more! Go bold!
Blue Bathroom Paint Color
The bathroom cabinetry is painted with “Benjamin Moore 781 St. Lucia Skies”.
Great use of color on vanity and floors! Isn’t this bathroom fun?
Stunning architectural details! The exterior siding and roof are natural cedar which will weather beautifully over time. Exterior trim is PVC for ease of maintenance.
I would love to go kayaking here… it seems to be a very peaceful place.
360 degree views are possible in the lighthouse-inspired turret which houses the owner’s master bathroom, a third floor office and the laundry room.
Also, notice the landscaping and beautiful siding color.
This screened porch is the ideal place to enjoy that gorgeous view!
Fan is a “Minka Aire Rainman Ceiling Fan in Brushed Nickel Wet”.
What a dreamy home! It even comes with a front porch swing!
The architecture throughout the home is inspired by Robert A.M. Stern.
I am sure you agree with that this is a beautiful home inside and out!
