We see so many beautiful homes around here and have you wondered who lives in these impeccably designed homes? I had many homeowners emailing me, feeling happy to see their homes featured on Home Bunch and so many of them continue to keep in touch. I have to say that I love that!
It’s no different with this extraordinary classic beach house in the Hamptons. I am extremely happy to share with you this beautiful home, owned and designed by one of my favorite interior designers, Iris Dankner. Like you will see, this home exudes elegant and beauty.
Trying to escape from the busy life in Manhattan, Iris decided to build this classic, chic shingled home where she can spend every summer with her family in Southampton, New York. The house was built by Hampton’s top builder, Joe Farrell, and designed to welcome in the ocean’s breeze and to allow the interior designer to create her beach-inspired dream home.

Classic Beach House with Elegant Interiors
This classic Hamptons Beach house has 7 bedrooms, 7 bathrooms and a gorgeous front entry. Note the three planters on each side.
Finding The Perfect Colors
When starting the design process for her family’s summer home, the first step was selecting a color palette. “The blue, white and brown gave me a fresh beach feeling,” she says. “I felt it was important that the rooms on the first level all work together by keeping the same color palette but treating each room differently.”
Details
Nothing was overlooked in this house. You notice the attention to detail in every room.
Designing It on Your Own
This is what Iris says about designing her own home: “The bonus of designing my own house is that I was able to make changes so that it felt like my own,” she says. “You can experiment and try things that you might not feel comfortable doing with a client.”
Living Room
The living room works more like a family room, where the family spend most of their time, but since it opens to the kitchen, the designer wanted the room to feel pretty and cozy. Coffered ceilings give the space traditional appeal.

What’s Your Style?
Dankner describes her design style as “classic, yet with a modern approach.” She loves to blend traditional style with subtle hues and a modern mix of elegant pieces.

Flooring is oak and stained with “Jacobean” from “Minwax”.
Kitchen Design
The island was thoughtfully designed to face the outdoors for a pleasant view while cooking. “I wanted a large island and a large table that could seat 12 for breakfast,” she says. “At a beach house we always have lots of guests sleeping over — that means lots of meals.”

Yet another classic choice: white subway tile for backsplah. You simply can’t go wrong with that! Timeless and economical.

Some of her favorite features are the white marble countertops, the matching cabinetry and the pot filler above the range.

Sunroom
The designer loves to spend time with her daughters in the sunroom. They often build puzzles and read.
Most of the decor found in this space comes from garage sales, including the salvage table and birdcage.

It’s impossible to not like this elegant powder room. Notice the mirror.

Dining Room
A grand chandelier hangs above the dark oak table in the formal dining room. The blue and brown rug was custom made by Stark to match the palette of the curtains and the warm brown paint.
The tables on each side of the room are often used as drink stations when the couple entertains; the buffet also holds all of their china.

With seven bedrooms in the house, I am sure you can find one of your taste! This guest bedroom is neutral, but far from boring.

The designer choose a very soothing color palette for one of her the bedroom of one of her daughters.

This bathroom is original and classic at the same time. Love the idea of using photos as artwork.
Outdoor Spaces
When building the house, Dankner made sure to include an outside space that felt like an extension of the interior. She spends a lot of her time on the covered porch, which she furnished with a ceiling fan and curtains. “The covered porch is everyone’s favorite, because I created an indoor space outside,” she says. “It’s comfortable and a wonderful space to entertain.”

You definitely can go beyond a simple BBQ in this kitchen. The outdoor kitchen has a fridge and plenty of storage and workspace.

It’s so wonderful to have you guys back here… I had so much fun preparing this post. You know how much I love shingled coastal homes! They’re my favorite! 🙂
So, did you have a good weekend? It’s being incredibly warm here and, since we live on the “unpredictable” East Coast, we have to enjoy when the skies are clear and the sun is shining!
Today, we played outside with the kids and after that we went try a new Japanese restaurant in town. I love, love, love Japanese food, not to mention the culture and people. It was wonderful there, we had a good time and I could relax and feel happy.
I have to say that I am learning many things with my grandmother’s passing, but the most important is to show how much I love and appreciate my family. It’s never enough nor too late to embrace every minute we spend with our loved ones. I am less grumpy, worried and stressed and I am living with a more “in the moment” attitude. I have been way too stressed about too many things during the last couple of years and now I see that the most important things for me is how I decide to live each day. That’s what will build a better life, not how many hours of sleep I loose for worrying about the future.
Start this week bringing all the love you can carry in your heart and spread it to everyone you love and care. In fact, go a little further… bring this love and this energy to the people that you will meet during this week. Let people feel embraced by you.

With many interior magazines, interior design blogs and Pinterest out there, it’s easy to feel a little overwhelmed when it comes to interiors. Hello, my wonderful friends! How are you doing today? I hope you had a great week and have an even better weekend.
Once again, I want to thank you for your love, prayers, emails, comments and words of comfort. I can say that the pain is still very strong, but I am starting to feel calmer. I am starting to feel less desperate and more at peace.
I also can say that I am constantly “talking” to God. If I am quiet, I am praying… just trying to understand everything and trying to thank God for everything I lived with my grandmother. I think we can only truly heal if go through everything we need to go through. I can’t sugar-coat my feelings, but I am trying to be strong for my little ones, and praying helps me put everything “out there” to God!
I honestly can say that I know that all the prayers and words of encouragement are helping me more than you can imagine. I am starting to feel a little better during the night also, which I am very happy about. Slowly, I am starting to accept that my grandmother will continue to help me, in an even more profound way.
Thank you for being there for me when I needed the most. I continue to read your comments and emails whenever I feel the need to hear something good.

Luciane, I am so sorry for you loss. It is a difficult time, I know as I lost my dad a little over a year ago and I think of him daily. Just please find comfort in knowing your angel is watching over you, always.
