We usually have a white canvas when building a new home and if you’re like most of my clients, you will put a great of amount of your focus and money into the kitchen design.
When asked to design this new home, the very talented interior designer Rita Chan, from Rita Chan Interiors, knew she would have to design a kitchen that would be able to accommodate a young family, and this made her choose materials that aren’t only attractive but also durable.
The designer created a soft color palette that combines crisp white kitchen cabinetry with a light blue island. French Oak floors in a medium walnut finish bring some contrast and plenty of warmth to this bright kitchen.
There are so many inspiring ideas in this space and I am truly happy to share them with you today. I hope you like the kitchen as much as I did!
Inspiring White Kitchen with Light Blue Island
An all-white kitchen is always a classic choice, but by painting the island in a different color you personalize your kitchen and bring more interest to it.
Light Blue Kitchen Island Paint Color
Kitchen island paint color is Farrow & Ball Light Blue No. 22.
The backless French bistro stools are Serena & Lily Riviera Backless Stools.
Kitchen Color Palette & Textures
This kitchen has the perfect color pallet and textures for a beach house-inspired kitchen. I love every item chosen for this space!
Kitchen Cabinet Paint Color
The kitchen cabinet paint color is Benjamin Moore Super WhitePM-1.
Kitchen Hardwood Floor Ideas
Floors are French Oak- medium walnut finish. A nice classic.
The kitchen bar features “chunky” open floating shelves, a wine fridge and a very practical prep sink.
Countertop is carrara marble.
The kitchen backsplash is Beveled 2″x 4″ White Subway Tiles.
Chameleon Paint Color
Farrow and Ball Light Blue is a color that changes with light and it can look “blue grayish” at certain times of the day.
Wall Paint Color
Wall color is Droplets by Dunn Edwards.
The kitchen hardware is chrome. It looks really beautiful with the blue island, painted in Farrow & Ball Light Blue, and the carrara marble countertop.
The white wicker pendants above the island are Taza White Pendants by Palecek. Also, make sure to notice the striped kitchen runner. It looks great with the French oak plank floors.
This cozy and bright breakfast nook features a white bench with cushion on one side and French bistro chairs on the other.
Table & Chairs
The trestle table with zinc top was designed by the interior designer and custom-made by Big Daddy’s Antiques. Isn’t it beautiful? I love it!
Chairs are French Bistro Riviera Chairs.
Vase is from Anthropologie.
The bench fabric is a ticking stripe by Robert Allen that the designer had laminated. This is a great idea especially if you have small children at home.
