If you have a busy life in the city, you probably have dreamed about moving or at least having a cottage in the country where you could slow down and forget there’s such a thing as time. A place where you don’t need to carry a phone or even the need to have internet access — can we go through 24 hours without it?. If you ever imagine how your perfect country home would look like, this one might make you want to accomplish this dream a little faster.
Designed by the very talented Caitlin Wilson, founder of Caitlin Wilson Design, this cottage is located on a charming lake in Southern Oregon and according to Design Sponge, the cottage is the second home to a pair of hardworking, fun grandparents from San Francisco. The construction began in 2009, and the project was completed in late 2011.
Some of the interiors are influenced by its location with some rustic approach, while others would perfectly fit in a home located at any part of the country, thanks to its timeless and sophisticated appeal.
Truly inspiring and fresh, this country chic cottage is all we need to start our day right!
Country Chic Cottage Design
We all need a peaceful place to listen to our own thoughts… Do you have a favorite spot?
Is this country enough for you? I think this room has enough personality for the rest of the house! Take a look at that gun console table! That’s a first for me! 🙂
I am loving the rug and the vintage inspired bench.
The living room has a very comforting and homely color palette. The layout is perfect for conversation.
Plaid fabrics are by Ralph Lauren.
The dining room feels casual yet elegant.
The fabric used for the custom drapery is “Poetical Willow” by Barbara Barry for Kravet.
The mudroom has great cabinets and beautiful countertop, but what really gets your attention is that antler mirror!
Faucet is by Newport Brass.
… And suddenly the cottage becomes more feminine and brighter! I can’t help but love the change! 🙂

I always love seeing delicate/feminine laundry rooms and this wallpaper subtly adds a special touch to this room.
Wallpaper and Fabric: Spring Fret Traditional Lattice in Aqua Blue Green Cream.
A bedroom should always feel comfortable and inviting. The designer achieved both qualities by bringing plenty of soft textures and happy patterns to the space.

The vanity is painted in Clay Beige OC-11 by Benjamin Moore.
In the kids bedroom, custom headboards are upholstered in “Schumacher’s Greek Key” fabric in “Ruby”.
There’s a “fabric party” going on in this reading nook!:-)

The grandkids’ bunk room is fun and playful.
This is a great spot to read to the kids. I also love the nautical inspired decor found here.
The bunk room displays fun fabrics from Caitlin Wilson Textiles, HomeFabrics and Pindler & Pindler.
Moroccan pouf is from Overstock.
What kid wouldn’t love a bathroom like that? Timeless motif!
The map wallpaper in the bathroom is “Ralph Lauren’s Expedition Novelty Map Wallpaper in Baltic Blue”.
A big thank you goes to “Carly” from Caitlin Wilson Design for kindly and patiently sharing many of the sources found in this post!

I love seeing cottages and one of the reasons I am selling my house is because I want a place that feels cozier and more inviting, just the one we saw above. I am done with big, open concept homes. They are great for entertaining, but I miss having smaller rooms where you feel embraced by them. This home we just saw offers that without feeling closed-in and that’s something I will be looking for in my next house.
I hope you had a great time around here and I will see you again tomorrow! 🙂
